This Week: October 6 – 12

More Fall fun to be had this week for the kids and fam!  Be sure to check the Calendar for ideas each day.  Here are few of this week’s highlights:

A-maize-ing!

A-maize-ing!

DD Ranch Pumpkin Patch – All Week :: This is another must do for your Fall bucket list!  Open each day for the entire month of October from 9am-5pm, enjoy the pumpkin patch (prices vary by size), Hay Maze & Kids Korral ($4.00 per child), the Petting Zoo ($4.00 per child), DD Dirt Express ($3.00 per child) and the Country Store to purchase raw honey, grass-finished beef, lamb, fresh eggs, heritage pork and U-dig potatoes ($1/lb).  Saturday & Sunday there’s even more to do, with the addition of hay rides ($4, children 2 & under FREE) & pony rides ($7) and their Cafe for a bite to eat…I personally am excited to try their burger made from their own beef and potato chips cut from their own potatoes!  FREE admission and parking.

Merritt Family Orchards – All Week :: This generous family has been opening their orchards full of Golden Delicious, Rome Beauty and Mutsu to the public for pick-your-own apples each Fall for FREE while supplies last.  The orchard is located at 1750 NE Bear Creek Road in Bend – bring your own bags/boxes, check-in first at the house (during reasonable hours) and pick at your own risk.  I smell apple pie in our near future!  10/10 UPDATE – Maybe next year, all the apples have been picked this season.

BendFilm Festival – Thurs-Sun, Oct 9-12 :: Seems like this event might better be categorized as an outing sans kiddos, but wanted to include as it’s definitely the big event in Bend this weekend.  On the family-friendly front, this year they’ve partnered with Bend Montessori to provide rea$onable childcare “babysitting tickets” for your kids ages 3-12 on Thursday and Friday.  Looks like there are only 20 spots available per day, so grab them here before they’re gone!  Of potential viewing interest to a younger set is the Future Filmakers Festival, showcasing submissions from kids in grades 5-12.  These films (each between 1 and 5 minutes – nice for kiddos with shorter attention spans 😉 ) showcase on Sunday at McMenamins beginning at noon.  These tickets are FREE but limited, so get them while you can here.  For all the details, including the complete festival schedule and to purchase tickets and passes be sure to visit their website.  Enjoy the show(s)!

Dance & Sing With Janellybean – Fri, Oct 10 :: Join Janellybean from 11:30am-12pm for a musical edition of Friday story time at Barnes & Noble.  FREE

Sunriver Resort Harvest Festival – Sat, Oct 11 :: It’s Sunriver Stables turn to host a celebration of the season from 12-5pm, including live music, pumpkins, pony rides, hay rides, vendors and more!  FREE

Have a great week!
